What I learned

For this project, I collaborated with two group members to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for Indiana University Health University Hospital, a leading academic medical center in Indianapolis and part of Indiana University Health, the largest healthcare system in the state. Our plan focused on key strategic priorities including staffing, financial performance, service expansion, payer relations, digital transformation, patient experience, and long-term sustainability. Affiliated with Indiana University School of Medicine, the hospital plays an important role in delivering advanced specialty care, medical education, and research innovation.

As a team, we divided responsibilities equally among the three members, with each person completing assigned research and content areas. We then worked collaboratively to combine our findings into a unified slideshow, presentation script, and preliminary draft. Throughout the project, we met virtually on a regular basis, communicated consistently, and practiced our presentation together to ensure a polished final delivery.

Using data-informed recommendations and industry best practices, our strategic plan created a clear five-year plan to improve operational efficiency, expand services, and strengthen patient-centered care. Completing this project enhanced my skills in healthcare analysis, strategic thinking, teamwork, and professional communication, while demonstrating my ability to help translate complex organizational challenges into practical, results-driven strategies for leadership stakeholders.
